Welcome to St John's C of E Academy

Welcome to St John’s CofE Academy. I am immensely proud to be the headteacher of such a vibrant, exciting and ambitious school. Our school thrives on a culture of high expectations where everyone is committed to making a real difference to every child in our care. We aim to give our children the very best start to their education, developing a love of learning and creating some happy memories along the way.

St John’s is a forward thinking, innovative and outward looking school. As part of the Diocese of Gloucester Academies Trust, our educational vision has a caring and supportive Christian ethos at its core. We aim to enable every child at St John’s to flourish by encouraging their gift’s and talents so they leave us believing they can achieve anything. Our aspirational, talented and nurturing staff team are committed to every child achieving to the best of their ability. Working closely with parents and carers, we make sure that pupils are happy, safe and that they are achieving success in all areas of school life.

We are lucky to the located in the picturesque Forest of Dean, which is steeped in history and offers a wealth of opportunities to enhance pupil’s learning. As a school, we aim to utilise what is on our door step, making learning as hands on and as meaningful as possible. We try to make learning creative, stimulating, inclusive and fun with lots of challenge, setting ambitious goals for the future. By offering an enriching, purposeful and exciting curriculum, our aim is that all teaching develops a deep understanding of the knowledge and skills they need to be successful adults in the future.

St John’s is a nurturing, safe and stimulating environment where everyone is valued. We offer a vast range of opportunities for ‘young minds to shine’ and light the spark of their learning.

I hope you enjoy finding out more about our school. Visits are encouraged and welcomed: we would be delighted to show you around our wonderful school.
