“This is a good school. The quality of care, guidance and support is now outstanding and this results in pupils feeling extremely safe and secure in school. Pupils say they enjoy lessons because of the interesting and varied activities planned for them. Parents say “Should we have a problem, the school will be happy to deal with it”. Pupils are developing extremely well into thoughtful and considerate young people. An important provision, in response to parental need, is the successful before and after school club.
We are very fortunate at St John’s to have a committed team of staff with a wide range of interests and expertise. This allows us to offer a variety of school clubs which are held after school. Staff give their time freely for these activities and are keen to welcome any children who want to try something new. Continue reading
All families are welcomed at St John’s C of E Academy. As a fully inclusive school we nurture a friendly, caring and supportive environment that allows all our pupils to develop and learn to their full potential.
Pupils, parents/carers, staff and governors work together to promote an effective school where everyone’s contributions are valued and respected.
Values form a central emphasis of all our work. Over two years we focus on twelve Christian values:
Respect Service Justice Perseverance Friendship Truthfulness
Generosity Courage Trust Responsibility Compassion Forgiveness
We also aim to teach our pupils about the British values of:
The rule of law
Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
All these values permeate through our work with children at St John’s. They are taught through the curriculum, Worship, extra-curricular activities and other opportunities and events. Examples include:
Assemblies celebrating world faith festivals
Projects instigated through ‘Pupil Voice’ such as a Pupil Newsletter, redecoration of the boys’
toilets and various fund raising events
Participation in a Forest of Dean ‘Mock Trials’ event
By using the life and teaching of Jesus, St John’s Church of England Academy aims to provide inspirational learning which incorporates Christian values.
This, by example and experience, will provide our children with the foundations and skills for life long learning.
Our mission is to educate the young people entrusted to our care in a Christian way that ensures that each one is valued and cared for and achieves the best of which he or she is capable.
